Thanks to fellow geek m.poulet, I discovered the new (but already over) HBO series Game of Thrones. It is a fantasy, medieval castles and dragons story that takes place in an imaginary land of which the capital is King’s Landing. It is visually stunning (I believe they had a mega-budget here) and has great casting. The dialog is pretty good and it balances between sex, humor and pathos fairly well. In the grand tradition of HBO, no characters are sacred and there is plenty of bloodshed to go around. I’d recommend it as a kind of Rome updated to include great 3D graphics and a story bordering on fantasy. I admit that on my 11h flight from Paris to Shanghai, I watched 8 out of 10 episodes before the battery gave out on my iPad and then watched the last two once I was installed in my hotel room. Can’t wait for S2!
