A quick one because I need to get to sleep tonight:
The Mercury Rev edition of Back to Mine is excellent. There is a nice instrumental Bowie “A New Career in a New Town”. The classic “Seasons in the Sun” by Terry Jacks (a little Wikipedia revealed that this was originally a Jacques Brel tune “Le Moribund” – funny because I never paid attention to the lyrics but they are really morbid despite the poppy atmosphere of the song…) is here with an oustanding “The Grand Tour” by the eternal George Jones. Lovin’ it. Country like in the old days! We also find some Pharoah Sanders “Astral Traveling”, a nice Randy Newman “Uncle Bob’s Midnight Blues”, “I’m a Foot to Want You” by Billie Holiday and an airy “Wrap Your Troubles in Dreams” by Nico. I suppose you could say that there is something for nearly everyone here. I’d put it up there in the top 5 Back to Mines that I have listened to and reviewed so far.
On to Röyksopp and Bugz in the Attic…nearing the end here so I gotta make it last!
