It’s rough being a kid

As you can perhaps see if you look right in the middle of this picture, my kid was NOT enjoying the kid’s carnival during our vacation. He willingly went to the evening sessions where they “practiced” their pseudo dance routine to Rio from the Disney movie of the same name (which he saw twice at the movies), but when it came to actually performing in front of a crowd, well, he was not a happy camper. I think I recall that the chaos and noise of kid’s shows never thrilled me either at his age. So, perhaps this refusal to just “have a good time” is inherited from yours truly. It was not really a big deal and he, of course, got over it, but I did feel a tugging in my heart wondering if we weren’t being cruel by obliging him to go through with it. What are you gonna do right? I mean, it’ll just be between he and his therapist in 15 years from now…
